Waltham's 18 run win came thanks to a career best 25 from
Paul "Stumpy" Lister, fully seventeen years after his Waltham
debut.
The
right handed pocket dynamo, more renowned for his fielding
and bowling, took a liking to Phillips' bowling after Ralph
Stansfield (15) ensured a brisk start, while Phil Dalton
and Martin Livermore made 28 apiece in the home side's 136
for 8.
Colin
"Sicky" Smith 3-10 bought his wickets cheaply before tea,
while direct hits from Jason Mitchell and Hughes (pictured)
brought about a late clatter of wickets
Andy Robinson, batting on his home ground, made an excellent
36 for the visitors before falling to an excellent catch
by Simon Jones off leg spinner Charley Farley (4 for 14).
Colin
Lord (31) kept him company until he fell to another leggie,
under-13 James Palmer, but Alistair Gage (4 for 13) claimed
wickets at either end of the innings as D.A.C.D. were bowled
out for 118 in the penultimate over.
The
teams then retired to the pavilion for a curry evening courtesy
of club sponsor The Waltham Tandoori.
